Family Forecast: April 21-27, 2025

Community care, teaching independence, breaking free from old patterns & more are on deck this week

The coming week is packed with opportunities to take good care of yourself, first, before prioritizing the needs of others.

Doing so will strengthen your ability to support and nourish your family, friend groups and community members.

But there will also be ample chances to foster a healthy sense of independence and self-sufficiency this week.

The Family Forecast for April 21-27, 2025, covers where prominent planets and some of the other celestial bodies are located in the sky this week;

it lays out which Human Design Gates are being activated in all of us — whether they’re defined in our charts or not —

it also reveals what effects these energies may be having on us, our families and our world,

and helps you understand which specific Energy Centers you can focus on nourishing or deconditioning so that you and your loved ones can be fully supported throughout this tumultuous timeframe.

Don’t have your free Human Design chart yet? Download it here.

Note: The following energetic frequencies are being activated in all of us, whether they are indicated in our Human Design chart or not. If you “have” the energies I mention below, you’ll be familiar with their specific characteristics. If you don’t “have” these energies indicated on your chart, consider these transits as opportunities to learn ‘how the other half lives’ and deepen your understanding about the people in your life.

In addition to the planetary transits showing us why events are unfolding around the world in the ways that they are, and why we may be feeling a certain kind of way from one day to the next, I also see the transits serving as a growth opportunity:

Transits are chances for us to grow empathy and compassion for others and thereby learn more about ourselves.

That’s why I write these Family Forecasts.

These significant, energetic transitions teach us what others, who have these frequencies activated in their bodies at all times, are experiencing each and every day of their lives.

As we learn about them, we understand what makes others tick, what their motivations are, why they behave in the ways that they do.

As a parent, this information, then, is priceless. Grab your child(ren)’s chart if you don’t already have it and mark down whether they have any of the Gates (energetic personality traits) I’m covering this week.

Because, when you know, you know…

Sun Transit in Gate 27: Teaching Independence

As of 5 p.m. EST on April 21, the Sun began its transit in Gate 27, the Gate of Caring, also known as the Gate of Nourishment

This frequency is also nicknamed “The Mother Teresa Gate,” and it’s activating our Sacral Center from now through April 27th.

This is the lifeforce energy for taking good care of your people —

which, according to the wisdom of Gate 27, is achieved by teaching them how to take great care of themselves as opposed to doing everything for them.

“If you give a man a fish, he’ll eat for a day,” the saying goes. “But if you teach him how to fish, he’ll eat for a lifetime.”

So, too, goes the logic of Gate 27.

Thus, Mother Teresa. The embodiment of selflessness and service.

The energy of Gate 27 invites us to care deeply for one another (or not),

and also to demonstrate how we take care of each other in this family —

(or community, organization or friendship).

Note: You’ll see that I’m adding the essential “or not” parenthetical to each description today because it’s important to remember that while we all have access to each of these energies, many of us humans don’t know it, and/or we choose not to step into their full power. So we have the freedom to decide we’re going to aim to reach each frequency’s maximum, high-vibrational, self-actualized potential — or not.

In the high vibration, it has us doing that by providing the skills and resources our loved ones need —

so that, as a group, we can preserve our family or community’s successful survival.

An active energy that emanates from the Sacral Center, this Caring, Nurturing 27 is an integral part of the Tribal circuit, forming the Channel of Preservation whenever it meets Gate 50, the Gate of Values, located in the Splenic Center.

Do you have Gate 27 or the full Channel of Preservation defined in your chart? Find out here.

You’ll recall that Gate 50 is very much a loving father figure who firmly proclaims, This is how we do things here.

One either follows Gate 50’s rules and receives loving support, or they leave the tribe.

Here with 27, we have that very loving but no-nonsense maternal energy to balance 50 out.

She can either be the kind of parent who facilitates independence in her young, inspiring them to learn the skills they’ll need to survive and what they’ll need to do to contribute to the betterment of the group,

or she can be a doting, smothering kind of matriarch who micromanages every aspect of their kiddos’ lives.

My kids are about to undertake the arduous task of state testing this week.

And wow, am I feeling the impulse to fuel their breakfasts and lunches with brain food, to sneak little rewards into their backpacks or bake cookies for when they come home after a long day of testing.

What’s happening at your house this week?

Under the influence of the Sun in Gate 27, Do:

  • put self-care first, because you’ll be of no value to others if you are exhausted and depleted
  • let others in your household engage in some self-care this week, too, without judging them for it
  • pay attention to what others in your household need in order to be healthfully nourished
  • fill your grocery cart with leafy greens and other veggies and fruits
  • enjoy QT with your family and friends
  • teach your kids skills that foster independence, self-sufficiency and self-reliance
  • let your kids self-soothe before jumping in to ‘fix’ a challenging situation for them
  • allow yourself to be filled with compassion and empathy
  • pay attention to how your body is responding to a request before you give of yourself

Under the influence of the Sun in Gate 27, Don’t:

  • turn into a ‘Mother Hen’ figure, nitpicking every detail of your kids’ existence and insisting your way is the only way to do something
  • sacrifice yourself unnecessarily
  • put yourself and your own needs last, behind everyone else that you’re taking care of
  • get resentful or jealous when someone you love is prioritizing their own needs ahead of you
  • be codependent
  • over-give, especially to the wrong person/people
  • become greedy & needy
  • demand that others take care of and demonstrate their undying loyalty to you

When this transit passes, if you don’t have Gate 27 lit up in your Human Design chart, remember to let this energy go, and release yourself from feeling like you have to meet the expectations for taking care of others like you’re some kind of Mother Teresa! Gate 27 isn’t your assignment!

Just allow this transit serve as a unique learning opportunity to grow deeper understanding for those who do carry Gate 27 in their bodies, and give thanks for the caretakers among us!

How to Stay Grounded During this Transit: The Earth in Gate 28

While the Sun is hanging out in the Gate of Caring, the Earth transits Gate 28, the Gate of the Game Player, activating our Splenic Center.

This is the energy for deep, primal awareness about what’s meaningful (or not).

It helps us figure out what has real meaning and purpose by causing us to choose the hard route — the more challenging way of doing things — whether we do so consciously or unconsciously. Because, according to the Game Player, if it’s difficult, it must be worth the struggle.

Gate 28 has us choosing the hard road because, well, life is more fun that way.

Besides, this is how we develop grit, courage and resilience!

Life is just a game — the challenge is delicious! Every new hurdle along the journey is just another ‘level’ to jump to where rewards can be reaped.

The Game Player lives for the struggle. Otherwise, it’d be bored stiff.

But the gift here is in discovering, for yourself, which struggles are actually worth getting involved in;

which battles, fights, arguments, difficult projects, or challenging tasks actually carry purpose and meaning for you.

So if the next six days bring you lemons, and you find yourself spinning out, it may be soothing to decide whether it’d be satisfying to make lemon-meringue macarons or something else that’s unnecessarily complicated — because lemonade would just be too easy!

Daring to take on a challenge can provide you with a sense of purpose and a greater sense of accomplishment, and therefore, some stability, even as the world spins into chaos.

Try not to get too frustrated when things seem exceedingly difficult.

Enjoy the learning process.

And look for clues that indicate why all this apparent difficulty *could* actually be giving you a higher sense of purpose or making your life more meaningful.Subscribed

Making Sense of the Past: New Moon in Gate 24; April 27

We have a New Moon happening at 3:31 p.m. EST, on Sunday, April 27th, in Gate 24, the Gate of Return, also known as the Gate of Rationalization.

At that time, the Sun will also shift into its next transit — out of Gate 27 and into Gate 24 as well. So let this summary serve as a foreshadowing of what’s to come next week.

New Moons generally have us looking ahead; calling in something new so that we can hit the reset button. They represent new beginnings, fresh starts, and the potential for growth and transformation.

But this New Moon is unique.

With the Moon transiting Gate 24, the Gate of Return/Rationalization, in its New phase, the energy in the air will bring us an opportunity to revisit the past, go over (and over, and over…) the details of how an event unfolded, to try to make sense of why it all happened the way that it did (or not).

Under the influence of Gate 24, we’ll be good detectives. But we may ruminate and perseverate, stress ourselves out trying to understand what happened, what went wrong, why things played out that, what we could’ve done differently…

Perhaps we might use the New Moon energy to vow never to let something like that happen again — whatever “that” was for you, your family, your community or our greater Collective.

Gate 24 lives in the Ajna or Mind Center, and it’s an integral part of the Individual-Knowing Circuit.

It’s on an eternal search to understand why — connected to Gate 61, the Gate of Inner Truth in the Crown/Head Center, it has us wanting to connect with Source, ask big questions and engage with the mystical realm.

Keep in mind: 24 is really good at making up excuses for why something happened, even if that rationale isn’t sensible.

24 in that answer-hungry Mind Center could have us pardoning someone’s bad behavior,

making excuses for why they did it,

rationalizing-away someone’s poor treatment of us or of others,

and filling in blanks to make something make sense.

Be careful not to do this.

Remember that the power of Gate 24 is in its ability to review evidence that actually exists, think logically and objectively, and notice every detail in order to make better sense of the past.

Under this New Moon, we have the potential to shine a light on toxic patterns, recognize why they were so unresourceful and damaging, commit to stop repeating them, and, once and for all, break free from antiquated cycles.

You may find comfort during this New Moon by releasing the need to find a sure-fire answer to something, and by trusting that Divine Intelligence always delivers.

Release the mental pressure and anxiety this transit could conjure up by listening to good music, getting out into nature to observe the birds and flowers, taking a walk with a trusted friend, journaling, lighting some candles while you shower or soak in the tub, meditating or playing with your oracle cards.

This Never-Ending, Slow-Moving Crisis: Gate 36 in Play

The North Node, Venus and Saturn continue their transits through Gate 36, the Gate of Crisis, a.k.a., the Darkening of the Light, activating our Emotional Solar Plexus at this time with the energy for making space for renewal (or not).

Hang in there. These transits will end soon.

Remember that Gate 36 can make a crisis out of anything.

It can go down every rabbit hole, pursue every possible explanation for something, and create emotional turmoil for itself and others throughout the process.

It can fear endings, having no idea what lurks ahead in the darkness and holding on for dear life to what is already, obviously, gone.

Or, the reverse can be true: 36 can embrace positive change. It can recognize that all good things must come to an end, and when they do, they create space for something even better.

They can allow the darkness to engulf them, show emotional awareness and stability despite it, and trust that the light will shine again once more to illuminate new possibilities, new growth and new beginnings.

The North Node is something we’re all hungry for but can never get enough of. Right now, that’s crisis. We seem to feed off of waking up each day and checking the news to see what new train wreck unfolded. Perhaps we can allow the demolition and destruction to take place, trusting this dark time will pass and that a new beginning will dawn.

The North Node finally leaves Crisis on June 13th.

Likewise, Venus, which represents our values. With it standing in 36, it’s trying to remind us that we need to really look at what we value and decide whether we’re willing to let die what needs to fall away.

Venus finally leaves Gate 36 on Sunday, April 27th!

Saturn is always giving us the smackdown. It’s the disciplinarian. In 36, it wants us to stop making everything into an emotional crisis and focus on being sensible and level-headed here.

Saturn leaves Gate 36 on May 4th!

Hang in there ‘til then!!

Creating Conflict Much? South Node in Gate 6

The South Node is still transiting Gate 6, the Gate of Conflict/Friction, through June 13th. This energy is also activating our Emotional Solar Plexus.

I see this transit as the Universe telling us to be done, once and for all, putting up unnecessary borders and exclusionary boundaries that keep people out of our tribes.

It wants us to start setting healthy boundaries, instead, which actually facilitate constructive unions between parties in a more inclusive way, so that we can flourish in partnerships and collaborations to bring about new growth.

Too Many People’s Opinions: Mercury in Gate 17

Mercury now transits Gate 17, the Gate of Opinion, activating our Ajna Center and presenting us the opportunity to learn how to wait to share our opinions until we’ve been invited to do so (or not).

This transit in the planet that’s responsible for communication also invites us to remember that those who are spouting their opinions are merely trying to get folks to come to some consensus around what we all agree is capital-T Truth.

They’re spit-balling when they express their point of view.

Just try’na see what sticks.

No one really knows what the truth is.

It’s all subjective, anyway.

So don’t believe every assertion you hear.

Don’t take anything as gospel.

Listen to people’s commentary with a grain of salt.

And be willing to hear different perspectives.

Who’s Influencing Whom? Mars Transits Gate 31

Around 6:00 p.m. on April 22, Mars begins its transit into the very-Leo energy of Gate 31, the Gate of Influence, activating our Throat Center.

This is the energy for stepping into a position of influence and leadership because the will of the people put you there (or not).

Because Mars is igniting Gate 31, we may have some very big demonstrations of power moving into the forefront. So pay attention to the news cycle.

According to Gate 31’s wisdom, we don’t just assume power.

We’re either born with it, we’re elected to lead, or we’re appointed to lead.

Nobody gets to decide they want to have power and then just take it.

The Gate of Influence has us getting invited to lead because we’re naturally influential and we’ve won people over because we’ve shown our inherent goodness;

because others gravitate toward us and they genuinely like seeing what we’ll do next,

because they find us to be trend setters at the leading edge, so they like emulating us.

People typically reject leaders who force leadership on others, and who command the populace to follow their directives or else.

That kind of leadership is fake, and it never works out.

Under the influence of Mars in 31, we can be aggressively charming and charismatic, and become passionate about serving our people as an admirable figurehead.

We may get pretty amped up about wanting to be the voice of influence for our family, an organization, a particular cause or some group.

Notice how this vibration could be showing up in your household or at work, sure.

But I suspect we’ll see some big movements play out on the global stage caused by this energy.

With Mars being the thing that makes us aggressive and passionate, it makes sense that we’d be talking about the rise of fascism, oligarchs, technocrats and authoritarianism here in the U.S. and around the world.

Forced leadership. Stolen elections. Power grabs. Figureheads who carry influence but never earned it.

I anticipate these will be the big stories of the next couple of weeks.

The Big, Slow-Movers Hold Steady

Jupiter continues its transit in Gate 45, the Gate of the Ruler/Gatherer, activating our Throat with the energy for sharing resources (or not), through May 6th, 2025.

Uranus continues its slow turn through Gate 8, the Gate of Contribution, Throat-activating energy for leaving a legacy of goodness (or not), through July 10th of this year.

Neptune holds in Gate 25, the Gate of Innocence/Spirit of the Self, activating our G-Center with the energy for appreciating life with a sense of awe and childlike wonder (or not), through March 19, 2027.

And Pluto holds steady in Gate 41, the Gate of Contraction, Root-activated energy for creating magic out of almost nothing and seeing possibility in the most unlikely places (or not), through January 2, 2029.
