Opinions, “Truth,” and Innocence are in question this week
The Sun now transits Gate 17, the Gate of Opinions, so we’re all getting a little extra boost of logical, problem-solving, analytical, mental and visual energy this week.
In particular, it’s important to know that most of us are probably feeling compelled — more so than usual — to share our opinions about what we see is going wrong.
Gate 17 is designed to draw our attention to the flaws,
inspire us to say out loud what we see in our mind’s eye,
and share what we *think* is the way things ought to go.
But it does that so we can, ultimately, make things better for everyone.

At its base, this energy wants to guide us toward overall improvement.
It just sometimes has a tendency to cause people to espouse their personal perspectives in ways that can, for others, be hard to swallow.
So keep an ear out over the next few days for people — especially your kids — expressing opinions as though they were gospel.
Because the Sun in Gate 17 really can have us believing our own perspectives are capital-T True.
Under the influence of this Gate of Opinions,
tune in if you hear family members making sweeping claims about things they wholeheartedly believe in;
and prepare to hear them speak with conviction about what’s wrong with the world or with a given situation;
and about what they think “should” be taking place instead.
“Eating beef is just plain wrong!” your teen daughter, who normally loves burgers might suddenly proclaim, out of the blue.
“Logan is a jerk! I hate him,” your son might announce with certainty about his best-friend-since-preschool.
And they’ll believe these things as fact.
This week simply has us trying ever so hard to establish some truth we can all believe in.
So we’re just kind of spit-balling our way through to greater understanding.
Gate 17 thinks, “If I toss this idea out to enough people, they’ll eventually start to believe it.”
I heard Trump quoted as having said that exact thing just yesterday.
Yes, he has Gate 17 lit up in his HD chart. In fact, he has the full Channel of Logic defined.
Gate 17, in the Mind (a.k.a. Ajna) reaches out to connect to Gate 62, the Gate of Details, in the Throat.
It’s intense thinking energy that’s constantly fueling the voice box with ideas it ‘sees’ — 17 is super-visual so it sees mental pictures.
62’s job is to retort, “Yeah, I hear you, bro, but what’s the point? Give me the Details. Break it down. Make it make sense or I’m not gonna waste my breath…”
Saturn, the planet that is here to keep us disciplined and slap us on the wrists when we’re getting out of line, happens to be transiting Gate 62 right now, so it’s worth mentioning that we all have access to this full Channel right now, for another two weeks.
Make the most of it by leaning into the ability to organize your thoughts, get your details in order, take care of minutiae, and get some administrative tasks done that could improve your situation.
Notably, Elon Musk has Gate 17 defined in his chart full-time, but not the 62.
In fact, 17, Opinions, is his Unconscious Sun — you can find yours by looking at the number on the top box of your Human Design chart, left-hand column. That sucker, in combination with the Conscious Sun, at the top of the right-hand column, makes up a full 70 percent of a person’s personality.
So it’s important to learn how to master that energy in the highest expression.
The “Psychology in Seattle” podcast hosted by Dr. Kirk Honda has a 17-episode (ha!) series exploring “the Psychology of Elon Musk.” It’s fascinating and horrifying. Episode 3 in that series discusses how little Elon didn’t have any friends, and his siblings couldn’t stand playing with him because he was always telling everyone what they were doing wrong, spouting his opinions and hurting kids’ feelings.
His mother apparently forced his siblings to let him tag along to go play with the neighborhood kids, and his older sibs complained, pushing back to say, ‘He’s no fun. He just criticizes everyone all the time.’
Little Elon never learned how to use his Gate 17 in the highest expression, it seems.
The tricky bit about the Gate of Opinions is that, although this energy compels us to proclaim our beliefs and treat them as though they’re facts, they’re just not.
They’re viewpoints.
Just because we say something doesn’t make it true.
What we need to grasp is that the Gate of Opinions is actually here to help the Collective arrive at an understanding we can all agree upon as true, eventually.
Here’s an example of how Opinions can work:
Once upon a time, our society believed that enslaving people was totally fine.
But over the centuries, pockets of singular voices began speaking up to voice the opinion that slavery is inhumane and it must stop.
Some people, a lot, in fact, pushed back against that unpopular idea — hard (and shamefully, some people still do) — we even went to war over it.
But eventually, the perspective that slavery is evil was put in front of enough people to cause folks to question their own belief systems.
The details of slavery’s wrongness were floated out to people in a way that had them seeing it from a different vantage point.
Eventually, they began to see the issue of slavery very differently than they had prior.
And so, over time, a majority of people came around to the idea that it really was wrong and evil, and that it needed to stop.
Nowadays, unless you’re this absolute piece of shit, you agree with the opinion that slavery is wrong.
We, who dwell on the right side of history, see this perspective as capital-T Truth.
What had begun as one or two people’s personal Opinion about ultimately spread, morphing collective understanding until it became agreed-upon Truth.
That’s how this works.
So, take what you’re hearing this week with a grain of salt.
Try not to believe every person’s opinion as though it were proven fact.
Be discerning about what you hear.
Recognize that we, as a Collective, are trying (desperately, it seems) to come to some new understanding about how we’re going to see the world in this new paradigm.
Do we want to live in a world that sees everything as a threat?
Do we want to believe that all brown-skinned people with accents are violent gang members?
Do we choose to believe that all elections are rigged and that voting rights need to be curbed?
Do we want to pretend that educating kids with a full background on our country’s history is brainwashing them?
Do we want to stop believing that science and medical interventions are useful?
The choice is ours.
We see what we want to see. We create our own reality.
All it takes is some spit-balling to get there.
Or if you prefer a different metaphor, think of this transit as throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what Opinions might actually stick.
Solar Eclipse in Gate 17
Note: The Solar Eclipse takes place Sunday, March 29th, beginning around 5 a.m. Eastern. You’ll be able to see it if you live in the far northeast of the United States (i.e., Maine) or Eastern Canada.
The eclipse hits while the Sun is still hanging out in Gate 17, finishing its transit there in Line 6 before it shifts into Gate 21, the Gate of Control, around 7 p.m. We’ll cover that sucker next week.
Eclipses are times of change; the ending of one cycle and the beginning of a new one. Everything goes dark for a time — things are concealed, hard to see, put into the shadows when the Moon drifts in front of the Sun — before the Sun is once again revealed and new light is shed.
So…in Opinions? Perhaps new truths will come to light. But who knows…we’ll have to wait and see!
Mercury, Venus and Neptune are ALL transiting Gate 25, the Gate of Innocence!
A recap, because the Sun was transiting Gate 25 last week, so the Universe must really want to tell us something important about embodying Christ Consciousness.

Remember: 25, Innocence, also known as the Spirit of the Self, is about looking at life through the eyes of a child. It’s about letting your true, loving spirit soar and shine. It’s about seeing the good in others — Namaste, and all that. It’s tolerance, acceptance for other people, even if “they not like us.”
Mercury and Venus are retrograde right now. Retrogrades are do-over opportunities.
Both are making their way back through this Gate of Innocence, causing us to review, re-examine and revisit this theme to get it right this time where we may have messed up last time.
Mercury, which rules communication, asks us to reconsider what kinds of messages we’re communicating: are we gossiping, spreading hate and lies, disseminating disinformation, repeating falsehoods that would break a person’s belief in the goodness of humanity? Or are we spreading messages of hope and love, tolerance and kindness, the way Gate 25’s godhead archetype, Christ, would?
And Venus is asking us to re-examine our values as they relate to the theme of Innocence. We are being bombarded with images and stories of absolute evil — have you seen the photos from the El Salvador prison where US citizens and immigrants have been sold, locked away without due process and abandoned?
Venus wants us to give a good re-thinking to whether we’re going to look away and pretend we don’t see it, or whether we’re going to actually live our values and stand up to these injustices. Do we value humanity? Or are we just going to let the collective spirit of lovingkindness get broken?
How are we expressing lovingkindness? How are we looking at the world through the eyes of a child.
Meanwhile, Neptune, which is in charge of our intuition, our spiritual ancestry and our dreams, is moving direct through Gate 25.
So, again, we have Innocence showing up.
A trifecta of this energy for Christ Consciousness. A trinity, you might say.
With Neptune here, we are being tested to trust our instincts and choose love.
To leverage the lessons of our ancestors — those who came before us and had to reckon with these same issues we’re now facing in past years.
Neptune has us processing through our dreams,
as our subconscious compels us to try to answer the question, What would Jesus do?
