Impulsivity, Enthusiasm & Awareness in the Now: Make the most of this week’s energy coming from the Sun in Gate 20

The Art of Momentary Contemplation
The Sun closed out its transit through Gate 8, the Gate of Contribution on May 20th, while everyone on the East Coast of the U.S. was enjoying happy hour drinks or putting dinner on the table.
I hope, throughout the six days the Sun shone rays of that inspiring, do-gooder energy, that you had an opportunity to consider what it means to make your special mark on the world.
Or, at the very least, I hope you realized that having the courage to be who you really are,
to walk along through life feeling comfortable and confident in your own skin,
is all the Contribution any of us ever really needs to make in order to be deemed “worthy.”
That’s what the Sun’s transit in Gate 8 was aiming to teach us, anyway.
But on the evening of May 20th, our position here on Earth with respect to the Sun shifted again, into Gate 20 this time, the Gate of Now, also called the Gate of Contemplation.
Which means all of humanity is being infused with the energy for Contemplation in the Now.
Momentary awareness.
The sudden drive to launch into action, immediately.
Refreshing spontaneity.
The deep, inner knowing about what needs to be done to make things so much better, asap.
The eagerness to make stuff happen, right now!
This oh-so-very Gemini frequency emanates from the Throat Center, our body’s processing unit that’s responsible for managing the energy of expression and communication.
Here’s where Gate 20 lives in the Human Design chart (see it there in the Throat Center, shooting off to the left toward the Spleen?)

When connected in a Channel, Gate 20 meets three different Gates:
It creates the Channel of the Brainwave when it connects to Gate 57, Intuition, in the Spleen.
It makes the Channel of Charisma when it reaches Gate 34, the Gate of Power, in the Sacral.
And it creates the Channel of Awakening when it connects with Gate 10, the Behavior of the Self/Self-Love, in the G-Center.

Here’s what to expect from the Sun’s influence in Gate 20, from now through May 26, 2025:
- people emboldened to take impulsive action
- the sudden expression of someone’s inner truth
- awareness that you’re basking in the present moment
- the potential to get super-mindful (or the complete inability to slow down and get present)
- blurting out statements before thinking about the repercussions
- saying off-the-cuff things that could offend others
- expressing judgment
- being extremely enthusiastic about a sudden new idea
- art critics, talent scouts, culture analysts and movie reviewers making bold statements
- the drive to make stuff happen right now
Do you have Gate 20 defined in your chart?
If so, lean into the high-vibe side of this energetic frequency to practice wielding it the way it’s meant to be used:
- get present, practice mindfulness, be introspective and try staying ‘in the moment’
- don’t be afraid to let your natural charisma shine
- remember that you’re here to bring people together; to act as a unifying, integrating force
- recognize the talent in others; speak up and tell them how good they are at [cooking, twerking, teaching math, etc.)
- read the room and tune into right timing
- allow your mouth to utter things spontaneously but only if they’re the kinds of things that spark people into taking aligned, inspired action
- be gentle with your words
- enjoy your natural knack for self-assuredness and confidence
- remember that you’re here to express the voice of “I am…”
- exercise your gift for simplifying life for others by helping them to see what they could do right now to improve their situation
- embrace the ‘Eternal Now’

Even if you don’t have Gate 20 defined in your chart, notice whether these themes are arising in you, and keep an ear out for this energy presenting itself in others from now through May 26th.
Here are some pitfalls to avoid during this transit, whether you have Gate 20 defined in your body or not:
- try not to be recklessly impulsive
- notice when impatience with others, or with things not moving fast enough, arises in you. Stop and take a deep breath. Let others catch up.
- don’t insist on doing everything yourself; let others pitch in and contribute their suggestions for how to roll out plans
- don’t expect that others can read your mind. say what you mean, kindly.
- remember that words can hurt just as much as sticks and stones can. Watch out for being a ‘verbal gunslinger’ (esp. around people with Gate 10, Self-Love)
- Don’t avoid getting ‘present;’
- try not to get yourself worried about the past/future
- notice whether you’re being superficially judgmental. Not cool. Look for depth. Be thoughtful and contemplative instead.
- Don’t stay busy just to be busy. That just means you’re avoiding grappling with your inner truth.
- If you struggle with a sense of perpetual melancholy because you feel misunderstood, try articulating what’s on your mind. Journal. Talk into your phone’s voice note recorder. Practice speaking. You may be suffering from an old Throat wound.
Godspeed, everyone.
Protect yourself from some zingers of words that are sure to start flying around.
I can’t wait to see what unfolds.
