Lead With Love, Not Control

Venus transits the Gate of Control, May 14-21, 2025. Here’s what that means for you & how to make the most of this complex frequency.

Just after 10 a.m. EST on Wednesday, May 14th, Venus completed its transit in Gate 17, the Gate of Opinion, and moved into Gate 21, the Gate of Control. Lean into the high vibrations of Gate 21 to make the most of this transit and align with your innate power.

This week could have us feeling like control freaks and micromanagers if we’re not careful, thanks to the current Venus transit.

Watch out, family members, colleagues and romantic partners.

Between May 14th and May 21st, everyone around the world will be zapped with an impulse to keep tabs on what, and how much, others are consuming.

As if the topics of waste, fraud and abuse weren’t getting enough attention already, they’ll be on full display this week.

Look out for certain folks in the news policing how much money is being spent.

Keep your ears peeled squabbles over whether resources are being fairly distributed or not,

and take note of heated discussions over who’s getting which piece of the proverbial pie, and who’s not.

(Hello, slashing Medicaid? And, anyone else catch news about Pam Bondi’s crypto windfall? Oh, how very Venus in 21!)

Here’s why:

Venus — the planet that rules love, beauty, our values and our relationships — moved into Gate 21, the Gate of Control, yesterday.

That means, for every one of us here on Earth, our Heart Centers are being activated with extra energy for (fairly) managing the resources for our tribe, or not.

That’s the focus of the very-Aries Gate 21, specifically.

See where it’s located on the chart?

That tiny triangle where 21 lives is our Heart Center, also known as the Will Center, or our Ego.

21 is just one of the four energetic traits that make up the Heart Center.

You might not have Gate 21 lit up on your Human Design chart. If that’s the case, enjoy a free sample of this energy throughout the transit. Then let it go after May 21st, because it’s not your cross to carry.

Get grounded in the energies that are lit up on your chart — represented through numbers, symbols, lines and shapes — because those are your innate superpowers that are always available to you, and they’re the lessons you’re here to learn so you can live an authentic, empowered life.

If you do have Gate 21 lit up on your bodygraph, the energy for fairly managing the resources of your tribe is likely one of the biggest traits of your personality.

That’s because it’s one of the essential lessons you’re here to learn to wield, with mastery, during this lifetime.

Grab your chart for free here to find out if it’s active in you. And keep reading to learn how to wield it with grace so you can reach your highest potential.

Gate 21, Control, is also called the Hunter/Huntress, because if it’s being used correctly, it has the patience and willpower to tread out into the forest alone, sit amongst the trees in total silence, and wait for a big ol’ healthy deer or a bison to walk into its range.

When that beast trots into view, the 21 rises, pulls back its bowstring, and readies an arrow:

21’s energy spikes so that it can take the sacrificial animal down, give thanks for the abundance it offers, and then haul that furry body back to the tribal camp, where it will be divvied up, fairly, amongst all the members: feeding and clothing them for weeks, or even months, into the future.

That’s how our ancestors would’ve used Gate 21’s power, anyway.

In modern terms, 21 looks more like a trustworthy property manager. S/he doesn’t own the apartment complex. S/he just takes care of the place for the oligarch who does.

When connected in a full Channel, 21 meets Gate 45, the Gate of the Ruler/Gatherer, to create the Channel of the Money Line. 45 signifies that wealthy land owner who trusts 21 to take care of the minutiae of rental agreements and rent collection, and to keep the tenants in line.

Those of us who ‘have’ 21 feel like it’s our job to ensure that any resources that come into our lives get fully utilized and properly managed, for the good of the group, so our people can be safe, housed, fed, and cared for.

We also want to make sure everyone’s holding up their end of the bargain so that the lights and heat stay on.

No presh, amiright?

At a deep, primal level, then, this energetic frequency has us feeling compelled to meet the demands of ensuring our tribe’s survival.

(If you’re paying attention to the incredible “Ginger is Black” trend on TikTok, you can definitely see Venus in 21 coming up! If not, you’re missing the BEST thing to happen to the internet in 2025!)

As one of the key Heart Center energies, 21 is driven by the will to succeed:

Its ego is on the line.

It’s passionate about making sure everyone gets a piece of the pie.

All of this will be on full display this week as Venus ignites these pieces of us.

In particular, Venus will make sure we’re focusing our Control issues wherever love is concerned, where our values are at play, and in our relationships.

So keep your eyes and ears peeled for a rise in power struggles between close partners, friends or professional teams.

Whether you do or don’t have 21 active in your body permanently, it’ll be kicked into gear while Venus transits this frequency. So here are some tips to keep in mind throughout this transit:

Try to avoid falling into 21’s low-vibe traps, i.e.:

  • being bossy
  • engaging in power struggles
  • micromanaging every little thing your kids, partner, coworkers or friends do
  • falling prey to scarcity mindset
  • languishing in feelings of lack
  • undermining your colleagues or spouse when it comes to rules & regs, especially around financial/budget issues
  • letting your (inflated) ego take over
  • compromising yourself or others whom you’re supposed to be taking good care of
  • making promises you can’t, or don’t actually intend, to keep
  • agreeing to do things out of insecurity
  • questioning whether you’re worthy enough for a fair slice of the pie (Yes, you’re worthy!)

Lean into these high-vibrational traits that come with the Gate of Control, instead:

  • demonstrate your trustworthiness
  • showcase your ability to be responsible
  • exercise fairness
  • ensure that everyone under your care & control is treated equitably
  • embrace justice and seek to create it in all situations
  • let go of needing to be the decider of everything
  • breathe into feelings of surrender
  • notice when feelings of shame, lack, self-doubt, and low self-esteem arise; pause and take a deep breath before letting them take the wheel
  • be a compassionate leader at your household or business by showing love & tolerance for others
  • remember that other people may hold different values, but that you can come together to meet in the middle with fair compromises and mutually beneficial agreements

Journal questions for this transit:

  • What would it feel like if I didn’t have to stay in control?
  • Can I let someone else share these responsibilities?
  • Why isn’t it okay for me to let things be messy?
  • What might happen if I let go of the wheel and let God/Gaia/Allah/Source take control?
  • What if I could just trust that everything is going to work out?

I hope this offers a helpful reframe for you, as issues around resource management, fairness, money and control get activated in your love relationships and values this week.
