Make your mark on the world by leveraging the majesty of this week’s Sun transit through Gate 8, the Gate of Contribution, May 14-20, 2025

At 9:52 p.m. EST, Wednesday, May 14, the Sun began its six-day transit in Gate 8, the Gate of Contribution, also known as “Holding Together.”

As the Sun shifts into position this evening, then, everyone on Earth’s Throat Center will be activated by Gate 8’s energy:

the yearning to leave a legacy of goodness behind, or not.

Dead center, at the core of the Individual-Knowing Circuit, reaching downward into the G-Center toward Gate 1, the Gate of Creative Self-Expression.

When Gates 8 and 1 connect, they form the unstoppable Channel of Inspiration:

a superpower that radiates unapologetic authenticity combined with deep compassion for the well-being of others.

Gate 8, Contribution, is an energetic trait that emboldens us to make our unique mark on the world.

Under this influence, we’ll be driven to make some meaningful contribution that that could put our name in the history books,

and have others, one day, looking back with reverence,

fondly remembering the important difference our efforts made.

This Throat-Center frequency energizes us to express ourselves:

through the Gate of Contribution, we communicate the contribution we know we can make.

Over the course of the Sun’s transit, then, as it emanates this vibe to influence all of humanity, we may feel infused with an urgency to help others out.

What a (potential!) gift!

There’s a high likelihood we’ll be examining whether, and how much, we can offer of ourselves,

whether we might be able to donate money to a good cause,

or assist in some movement whose mission we believe in.

We may feel compelled to share our expertise or guidance with a particular group of people,

or give our time and resources to facilitate some endeavor we believe in.

What a week to be alive!

Relevant: Uranus happens to also be transiting Gate 8. It moves slowly, so it’ll hover here until July of this year.

Uranus, mind you, is the planet that rules revolution, can conjure up massive transition, and in our own charts, represents that thing that we get super weird about.

So it stands to reason that people are getting pretty revolutionary, at the moment, about the legacy they wish to leave behind,

and whether they feel as though they’re making a worthwhile contribution to the world.

Either way you slice it, from both ends of the cosmos — from the Sun and Uranus — we’re being infused with the energy to make our special mark during this lifetime, and at this momentous flashpoint in history.

Here’s what’s essential to know, however, about this Gate 8, do-gooder energy:

Sure, you can do-do-do and give-give-give all you want this week.

And you might feel super great about yourself because of it.

If I were a nonprofit org, I’d change the “Giving Tuesday” event that’s held after Black Friday and Cyber Monday every November to this week, during mid-May, instead, to take advantage of the fact that everyone on the planet likely feels more driven to give of themselves during this annual transit.

But the point of Gate 8 isn’t to work yourself to death,

or to bankrupt,

deplete,

or compromise yourself by giving away money, time or effort you don’t *actually* have.

Instead, the most important, meaningful, and lasting contribution any of us can possibly make in this lifetime is being our Real Selves.

The full radiance of our unfiltered authenticity is our greatest asset, says the wisdom of Gate 8!

So?

No apologies.

No self-editing.

No shrinking yourself to fit any molds.

We’re D-O-N-E faking it ‘til we make it.

We are our most vulnerable selves, instead.

We don’t use filters or wear false masks.

We no longer hide behind someone else, or live in our own, conditioned shadow.

Gate 8 is about learning to straight-up own your badassery,

and being unafraid to embody your true powers,

no matter how different you might be from everyone else.

Guess what: sameness is boring!

Fitting in is overrated.

So get out there and do your own thing, be your weird self, in your own, unique way.

The Sun (and Uranus!) in Gate 8 just might give you the chutzpah you’ve been needing for a very long time to make the difference in the world you know you’re capable of making.

Here are some basic do’s and don’ts for how to make the most of this energy, whether you have it activated in your body at all times or not:

During the Sun’s transit in Gate 8, do:

• focus on sharing the parts of you that make you a natural role model
• lead by example
• consider what would make the world a better place, and look for small ways that you, uniquely, can facilitate that
• lean into your strengths
• allow yourself to just be
• remember that you’re plenty good enough and lovable, just the way you are
• remember that your authenticity & uniqueness are wonderful assets
• don’t be afraid to show your real self or express your truth
• practice lovingkindness and have compassion for all beings
• exercise patience and wait for right timing before taking action
• work on building self-confidence
• reflect on all the things that make you unique
• find ways you can meaningfully contribute to a cause you believe in

During the Sun’s transit in Gate 8, don’t:

• deny the tremendous value of who you are and how much you have to offer
• get bogged down worrying about what to contribute (just roll up your sleeves and pitch in, doing whatever you know how to do or are already good at)
• be impatient or force things into place before it’s the right time (or else they’ll fail)
• keep yourself busy ‘doing’ instead of letting yourself just ‘be’
• fall prey to feeling like an outcast
• slip into victim mindset
• try to be like everyone else
• be afraid to ‘let your freak flag fly’

Keep your eyes and ears open throughout the week to find out who — in your home, neighborhood and around the world — is leaning into the highest vibration of Gate 8 and who seems to be struggling in the shadowy realms.

Martin Luther King, Jr., had Gate 8 defined in his Human Design chart.

Albert Einstein, too.

So does Cory Booker.

And Joe Biden.

These are some excellent examples of people who lived, or are still living, with their Gate 8 energy exuding the high expression.

These souls just want(ed) to do something good for the world!

If you, too, have Gate 8 illuminated on your Human Design chart, then its radiance is surging through you at all times.

If not, enjoy being influenced by its energy this week, while the Sun makes this transit.

But when May 20th arrives, shake off any residual stories you may be carrying about how important it is to leave a legacy behind. (You certainly can, of course, and you might, someday.)

But if 8 is not lit up on your chart, then it isn’t a part of your soul’s journey; it’s not a lesson you’re here to learn or a power you’re here to practice wielding.

Be an observer of this energy.

Watch it play out in the news, in your household, in your community.

Notice when its characteristics arise in you.

Nod and smile, knowing you are being influenced by the Sun and, thus, an integral part of this interconnected web of existence we are all creating together!

And then let this energy for Gate 8 go, once this transit is through, all the while aiming stabilize yourself into into the energies that make you you — i.e., all the shapes, numbers, lines and symbols that are lit up on your HD chart.

Practice using those with grace and expertise so you can reach your highest potential and step into the fullest expression of the Real You.

And leave all that Contribution stuff for the folks who carry Gate 8 in their bodies all day, everyday.
