Gate 60: The Gate of Acceptance

Gate 60 is old-guard energy that’s under pressure to maintain the status quo, do the best with what it’s got, operate safely based on the way things have always been done, and stay the course.

It ‘accepts’ its lot in life as what-is, occasionally feeling pulses of power to spring forward, past roadblocks and up to a new level.

At the same time, however, Gate 60 yearns for transformation. Reaching toward Gate 3, the Gate of Ordering, in the Sacral, 60 wants to push past its limitations to make the ‘mutation’ it knows is possible.

Gates 3 and 60, when connected, create the Channel of Mutation: the ability to make serious changes that empower the individual and ultimately transform the collective.

When these changes feel out of reach, Gate 60 can get extremely depressed.

Gate 60 can’t reach mutation (i.e., change) without acceptance, first.

It needs to recognize, free from B.S., without any rose-colored glasses, that yes–its dreams are achievable–but only through a well-timed, orderly process and realistic view of its limitations.

Gate 60 can work with the tools it has at its disposal right now to slowly, patiently, remove barriers.

If it can do this, it will be adequately prepared to handle the power-burst that’s destined to come, from the Earth pushing upward, and ultimately skyrocket past any blockades in its way.

But right timing is key to working with this vibration.

With Gate 60, we can get creative, and be resourceful, realistic and patient while we prepare to mutate beyond the status quo.

High Vibe Gate 60: MacGyver

The potential of Gate 60 is in its gorgeous ability to be resourceful and creative with the tools it has at its disposal, right now.

Like the beloved TV character, MacGyver, who’s known for getting himself out of basically every possible kind of jam with nothing but a paperclip or a shoestring, Gate 60 can recognize a useful tool when it sees one.

It’s realistic, practical, and no-nonsense energy that refuses to dress up its dreams in floating hearts or unicorns.

Instead, it sees a closed door for what it really is: a sign to use a different way in.

A high-vibe Gate 60 understands all the pressure it’s constantly under, and knows that, when the time is right, it’ll be ushered right past its limitations.

With an aligned Gate 60, we are empowered to accept our circumstances for what they truly are, exhibit the patience of Job on the journey, and take deliberate action when the right moment arises.

Low Vibe: Frantic, Stifled Depression

Gate 60 can really bring on feelings of entrapment.

Our limitations can feel so huge and insurmountable that we can slip into deep melancholy, carrying around the weight of this heavy Root pressure.

Pinned down by our problems, unable to see a way past them, can make us feel impatient and hopeless.

We might act too soon, expending our energy on the wrong things; exerting effort before the time is right and winding up depleted.

Burnout is a red flag indicating an out-of-whack Gate 60.

This energetic trait begs us to be patient and allow life to unfold as it may, accepting that even if or when we finally break through our current limitations, new ones will appear.

The Deep Wisdom of Gate 60

The gift inherent to Gate 60 is the ability to recognize that our limitations exist to keep us on track. Without them, we’d be floundering all over the place with too many options.

You’ve heard of decision fatigue: The phenomenon that occurs, for instance, when a restaurant’s menu is too expansive that we feel overwhelmed and can’t place our order;

Or, when we have to make so many decisions throughout our day –for our kids, about our finances, at work, at the grocery store — that we get completely exhausted so that we can’t decide, come nightfall, something as basic as to whether or not to shower.

These are why limitations are in place. (And why great restaurants only offer one-page menus.)

Alternatively, you can think of limitations as our skeletons:

Sure, we can’t slide through crevices or become invisible, but without hard bones to create some constraints under all that skin and muscle, we’d be motionless blobs who couldn’t even stand up.

Limitations keep us on track so that we’re prepared for an up-level to our circumstances when it’s ready to come.

With the gift of Gate 60, we can embrace, accept, and tackle our limitations with a realistic, empowered perspective.

When We Feel Gate 60 Most Prominently

The Sun, which dominates the vibrational frequencies we experience, transits Gate 60 every mid-January. In 2024, we’ll feel this Root pressure to push past our limitations most acutely from January 17 through the 22nd.

Whether you ‘have’ Gate 60 active in your Human Design chart or not, you’ll feel this pressure to move past your limitations during this time.

For what it’s worth, I believe this transit is why our New Year’s resolutions fall by the wayside the way that they do every mid-January.

This pressure from Gate 60 simply stifles us from feeling ready to hit the gym with gusto, or to commit fully to healthier eating ’round the clock.

According to Human Design teachings, New Year’s hasn’t even happened by the time this transit gets under way!

‘Rave New Year,’ as HD purists call it, occurs when the Sun begins its transit it Gate 41, the Gate of Contraction, later in January each year, around the 22nd.

No wonder we can’t commit to our resolutions under Gate 60’s constraints! We have unfinished business to attend to before we’re ready to move past all that limits us!
