The Projector’s Purpose
Projectors are here to usher others along a better, more efficient, road ahead.
One that will get them where they’re trying to go, with less friction and fewer challenges along the way.
I like to refer to Projectors as the Great Illuminators of the World.
That’s because you have the vision; you clearly see the big picture and how the system works.
You are keenly observant and instinctive about what’s missing and what’s wrong with a given situation.
You draw attention to it, illuminating the rest of us to whatever the issue, topic, solution or awareness is at hand, waking us out of our numbed, busied, distracted existence and helping us to see where the flaws are.
This capability is one of your many superpowers!
Bitterness is the Bain of Your Existence
But, damn it, people don’t always listen to you when you do your work of waking them up, do they?!
Not even when YOU KNOW exactly where they’ve fallen off track,
Or when you understand precisely what they need to do to course-correct.
How annoying!
Getting pushback from others in response to you sharing your insights is, unfortunately, a common Projector experience.
The reason is energetic:
Your aura is so focused and penetrating it sometimes makes others, who are not energetically willing to be exposed under the shine of your radiance, resist you.
Coming up against their resistance can cause supreme bitterness for you, naturally.
You deserve recognition and appreciation. You want your wisdom to be utilized.
Don’t we all, you might ask? Certainly. It’s just that, for Projectors, recognition and feeling appreciated are supremely important.
When you receive the recognition you so desire and rightfully deserve, you feel like you’ve succeeded.
And success is what a Projector wants more than anything else.
Sooo…if you’re a Projector who’s feeling underappreciated — at work, at home, in love, or in your community — try working WITH your energy instead of against it.
What to Let Go Of if You’re a Human Design Projector
Something that should help a Projector find more ease and flow in life may be:
Relaxing the impulse to offer your guidance when a person who’s bumping around in the dark and screwing up has not yet asked for it!
No matter how hard it may be to bite your tongue and not tell them how they could go about doing their business in some better fashion, bite! (Until they come begging you for your advice! Then? Guide away!
Just experiment with this practice and see what happens.
Others are not likely to receive, appreciate or incorporate your genius insights until they come to the realization that they can’t possibly go on without some kind of help.
We fragile, egoic Humans typically need to fuck up in a whole bunch of ways first, on our own, and hopefully, eventually, get over our stubbornness, to finally admit we need someone wiser, who sees what’s going wrong from a different perspective, to show us a better way.
9 times out of 10, though, we’re going to have to ASK for this direction before we’re ready to listen to anyone else give it to us.
So…
No matter how clearly you see where people are screwing up, and no matter how obvious to you it is what they ought to be doing instead,
Wait for your perspective to be invited in.
(You may not get an overt, verbal or handwritten invitation, but a subtle energetic one, so tune in to the cues.)
BUT! That doesn’t mean you need to hide what you’re working on. Social media is a beautiful way for Projectors to let the world know how dang brilliant, creative and knowledgeable you are.
By all means, share away whatever it is you’re working on or intrigued by. Write about it. Post about it. Show your pics. Demonstrate your expertise. People will find you. Others who share the same interests will appear.
If you play with this idea of waiting to be invited to solve their problems, you may find yourself feeling a whole lot less tired and bitter when you pause, watching in amusement as people bang around trying to solve their own frustrations.
Let them go until they admit defeat!
Save Your Energetic Stores for Focusing on What You Love & Are Good At
Expending your precious energetic resources where they won’t be appreciated is exhausting for you.
The way your energy mechanics are configured means that your body’s energy is not inherently regenerative or sustainable, the way it is for some of the other Human Design types.
Therefore, you need plenty of rest. You need time alone to drain the gunk you’ve picked up from others throughout your day. You need to recuperate and replenish before heading back out into the world of hustle and hard work.
And try not to get tangled up in the belief that ‘hard work is the only way to success.’
Because, for you, that’s simply not true.
There are people and initiatives in this world that DO desperately need your energy and guidance.
Giving yourself time to rest, and resisting the urge to explain what you’re seeing before being asked, will create the space you need within yourself.
And it will allow you to become available to others so they can reach you when they realize they really effing do need your help.
So, try holding off on course-correcting when it’s not yet requested.
And, in the meantime, give yourself permission to do your own thing instead: whatever hobby, work, craft or diversion it is that you love, are obsessed with right now, or which brings you fulfillment.
(My son is a Projector, and he’s suuuuper into learning about aviation right now. He can’t get enough of airplanes, pilots, cockpits and flight paths. When you have a question about a particular aircraft, ask him. He knows everything. But do I want to hear about this stuff at home all day long? Um, no!)
You can create that sense of success you so long for all by yourself, internally, by honing your own craft, mastering your skills, and celebrating your own wins along the way.
That’s how you take your power back.
When you do this, others can’t help but notice as you radiate that power: your expertise, mastery and wisdom shine like a lighthouse.
You send a signal of competence, trustworthiness, safety and efficiency out into the world, letting everyone around you know you’re the one who holds the answers, the clarity, the knowledge they seek.
And when they finally admit they can’t solve a problem on their own, who will they come to for the solution?
YOU, Projector!
All those invitations to share your brilliance will come rushing in.
The right people flock to you. The ones who appreciate and value and recognize you for all the right reasons.
So? Be prepared to unleash your genius when they finally wake up!
