Details Matter
Some unseen, external force drove me to go into the back-end of this here website the other day and start poking around into some of my integrated widgets.
It was as though my imaginary ‘big boss’ from outta town had shown up at the regional office to conduct a surprise inspection, so that all my internal employees got suddenly very busy tidying up their cubicles.
As I drilled down into the details of what’s under the hood of my online business, wouldn’t you know I discovered some important links were broken or old, and that there was even a major mishap going on with one of my crucial app integrations.
So I sat with this organizational, detail-oriented mess until it was cleaned up (mostly), taking advantage of the rare and sudden mojo to peel through what I would typically consider painful minutiae and work I’d really rather not trifle with.
Such is the majesty of Gate 62, the Gate of Details, also known as the Gate of Organization, located in the Throat Center.
It stands to reason that the Sun happens to be transiting this patient, tuned-in, detail-oriented energy right now (we’re just a little more than two weeks into July 2023).
So, if you, too, have noticed that, all of a sudden, these past few days, your big-picture work has come to a halt and you seem to have a new superpower for studying fine details in whatever work or hobbies you do, then you can thank the cosmos.
Even if you don’t have Gate 62 lit up in your Human Design chart, you are being influenced by the Sun’s energy as it crosses over this energy.
Logical Acceptance of Factual Evidence
Gate 62 is the energy for drilling into the details of a thing. It’s the practical, logical energy needed for organization.
62 is a voice of the Throat, communicating “I think,” so it’s here to share details and facts. It’s gifted at explaining specifics, so this energy makes for a great teacher or researcher.
Gate 62 comes with a healthy dose of logic so that it is always searching for the most methodical way it can break complex things down (and communicate them) by their most sequential, sensical parts.
This energy is even responsible for breaking down language to give our words meaning and arrange them in an intelligible way.
“Lemme Put It To Ya This Way”
In its high expression, 62 communicates complex things in a voice that people can easily understand.
It has a way of organizing ideas, words, events, excursions, and even other people so that everything (& everyone) is logically in sync.
I have Gate 62 defined, and I admit I’m not always high-vibing it here. I attribute my ability to ghost-write for experts to this energy, although I’ve not really connected with it because, frankly, I don’t like writing in other people’s voices.
Likewise, while I wish I could say that Gate 62 is my secret weapon that helps me communicate the complex system of Human Design, I have my doubts, based upon the response of actual crickets I get from writing these posts and sharing stuff about HD on social media.
But hey, Gate 62 understands the limitations of its logical evaluations, too. And it has a knack for remaining open to the possibilities in this world of constantly shifting circumstances.
I suppose you could say I accept that this is very new and mind-bending material for a lot of folks.
And that, as a Manifestor, I’ve come to accept that pretty much most of what I do and share, people often aren’t ready to hear. So there’ll be some lag time while they process it, and I just have to be okay with that.

62 can both recognize healthy patterns and distinguish them from toxic ones that need to be interrupted.
I’m counting on you, 62!
Bogged Down in Details
One of the biggest challenges, or ‘shadow’ vibes, of Gate 62, is that it tends to get mired in details. It focuses too much on details that don’t make a difference, and is prone to not being able to ‘see the forest for the trees.’
What a misaligned 62 doesn’t realize is that it isn’t meant to prove every assertion, though it may try to. That’s because it will get stuck in a pattern of being stuck, and depend too heavily on the power of logic, which we all know can only get us so far in life.
Back in my waitressing days, my 62 was definitely showing in the low vibe.
I found myself ‘in the weeds’ so often that I became a supremely stressed-out server and totally panicked on busy Saturday nights. I’d get customers’ orders mixed up, forget that someone had asked for no onions on their salad, totally space on delivering an appetizer to a hangry table, and fail to greet a new group who’d just been ‘sat.’
I couldn’t handle so many details that needed tending-to all at one time. And there were plenty of busy, weekend ‘rushes’ during which I broke down and cried in the back room next to the mops.
That is, until I got the hang of serving (and became wicked awesome at it).
At some point, I realized all my stress was taking away from my ability to deliver. That, while I learned on the job, I could lean more into my charisma and charm to actually connect with the humans I was serving IRL, ask fellow servers for support when I needed it, and create a new, faster system for documenting people’s orders when they came in.
But before then, I struggled, focused on all the wrong details (like “holy shit now I have six filled tables, oh, no!”), and so I had lost touch with what was actually important: giving people a great experience and a delicious meal.
An Ode to Human Wait Staff & A Warning to Restaurant Owners
Incidentally, what in the actual fuck is happening in restaurants these days?
I understand that Covid wrecked the food service industry, and that good human help is hard to find.
But I’ve decided I will no longer step into restaurants that don’t have human servers.
Screw these stupid “QR code menus” and these “order for yourself on this ridiculous iPad while you’re sitting in the damn seat at the actual place,” and then they send out a random stranger to deliver your food.
There’s zero human connection, not even an iota of rapport established, and precisely squat accountability as far as what today’s food delivery workers are expected to do. They’re under no obligation to refill your water glass or ask how in the hell you’re doing.
It’s like being told, “Here’s your damn food. Now fuck off.”
What a horrible experience!
Do you know how many people put themselves out there every day — single, lonely people — to eat a meal in a public place all by themselves? And do you realize that their experience is made tolerable exclusively by their human server who actually talks to them, who knows their name, knows what they take in their coffee, who exchanges banter and cracks a joke?
Not everyone loves a chatty Cathy for their waitress, but a lot of people do.
And connection is a crucial part of being human — especially as we experience something as sacred as enjoying a meal. This downturn in food service delivery is definitely damaging our ability for establishing essential human connection.
Bring back the humans, and bring back the art of food service!
Full Channel Power
You’ll note from my rant above that Gate 62 wants to prove the opinions of Gate 17, the Gate of Opinions, which it connects to in the Mind via the Channel of Organization.
Meanwhile, even though 17 formulates opinions in its sleep, it needs to remember that its views are only opinions (albeit sensible ones that are meant to benefit the collective); not facts.
When 17 and 62 combine, these two powerhouse Gates create one opinionated MOFO who can also defend their assertions (because they have all the details they need to back themselves up).
But the fully connected Channel of Acceptance (a.k.a. Channel of Organization) also happens to be gifted with the ability to acknowledge inherent limitations and accept reality the way it is.
Some Reflections to Help You Focus on Details
Even if you don’t have 62 lit up in your bodygraph, while the Sun transits through this energy theme in July each year, it’s a great time to start to notice whether you are experiencing the drive to home in on minutiae and focus on tiny details.
Journal on these any time:
- What little issues have I been failing to acknowledge that really need my attention right now?
- How can I take advantage of this energy to tidy up loose ends or finally complete a task that has, til now, felt daunting?
- What details of my life are asking for my acknowledgment?
- What big-picture goals can wait right now while I tend to important specifics?
- Make a list of to-do’s and get to work!
