Diva or Goddess?
Gate 22 is the energy for basking in the beauty of a full range of emotions.
It is the embodiment of creativity, and has a deep appreciation for, all things in the artistic realm: poetry, music, theater, dance, paintings, sculpture, romance and more.
In its highest expression, 22 radiates inner beauty. It exudes charm and draws others toward it with its ability to attract; as long as it ‘feels like‘ gracing others with its presence.
Gate 22 sits in the Emotional Solar Plexus, so it must allow itself to ride the wave of feelings that continuously wash over it.
For 22, timing is everything.
Like the graceful ballerina who leaps out onto the stage precisely on cue, so does the 22 emerge from the shadows to grace its audience.
But without being fully connected to the Gate 12 in the Throat via the Channel of Openness, 22 may have a hard time waiting for the right moment, and it might struggle with managing its big emotions.
As it slips out of alignment, it can let its moodiness take over, and doesn’t care when a meltdown strikes or who’s watching.
What 12 does is act as both a sort of leash, or tether, for the wildly creative, emotional, charming, sociable and moody 22; and acts also as its mouthpiece, allowing it to express fully all its creative manifestations.
Cautious 12 is the proverbial crab in its shell, withdrawn, standing by until the torrent of emotions has passed, and until it knows the coast is clear for 22 to reemerge onto the stage and shine under the spotlight while its fans roar in thunderous applause.
Working in tandem then, 12 and 22 merge energetically to create a person who’s extremely creative, able to perform, who’s graceful, influential, inspiring, and yes, very moody.
With its rich, inner emotional world, this full channel is rather intuitive as well; able to read others emotions through its ability to understand and feel, everything, deeply.
A high-vibe 22, whether connected to 12 or not, shows supreme self-acceptance and embraces its emotional spirit.

In the low vibe, Gate 22 surfaces as more of a diva-like energy.
It’s vain, moody, and might even have self-absorbed tantrums while it gazes critically at itself in the mirror.
It’s obsessed with being perfect and focused less on its creativity and more on how it appears to others, whether others like and adore it; whether it’s being accepted.
It can shut down its love of the arts, bottle up its emotions, and may be unable to create, let alone appreciate, anything.
Out of alignment, 22 has forgotten how to love itself.
Which is terribly sad, no?
Gracing Others, and Itself
But 22 can realign with the power of its creative, beautiful, emotional spirit.
It can remember how to show itself, and others, the grace it deserves, which has always been coursing through it, no matter how deeply under the surface it’s been buried.
If you have 22 (or even if you don’t but the Sun happens to be transiting through it, so that everyone feels this energy at some point every year), and you find yourself slipping into the low vibration of this gate, consider whether you may be plagued by perfectionism.
Ask yourself:
- Where is my need to be perfect coming from?
- How is ‘being perfect’ serving me?
- How might it be holding me back?
- What would happen if I did it messy?
- What would happen if I let myself feel, let myself get creative?
- What would happen if I allowed myself to receive the grace I so desire?
- Can I give myself grace in this situation?
[Pro Tip: Yes, you can give yourself grace! In fact, you gotta start there before you can give it to others!]
The true gift of Gate 22 is in allowing its creative, emotional spirit to flow freely as it may, such that it shows itself and all those around it the gracefulness of humanity.
